Provision and install the data plane on your own Kubernetes cluster yourself, owning the cluster and its upgrades while Union runs the control plane.
Self-managed deployment (manual setup)
In a self-managed deployment, you operate the data plane on your own Kubernetes infrastructure. Union.ai runs the control plane, but you manage the cluster, upgrades, and operational aspects of the data plane yourself. Union.ai has no access to your cluster, providing the highest level of data isolation.
Getting started
The fastest way to a self-managed deployment is to subscribe to Union Team on AWS Marketplace and follow the setup from Marketplace. You still provision your AWS resources, but an agent installs the data plane into your cluster for you, so you skip the Helm install and configuration below.
These steps are for providers that setup from Marketplace doesn’t cover yet, or for when you want to provision and install the data plane yourself:
- Review the architecture to understand the control plane, data plane operators, and security model.
- Review the infrastructure recommendations for the sizing model, networking and IP planning, identity, and the scaling constraints to plan around.
- Provision your cloud infrastructure using the page for your provider:
- Deploy the data plane once your infrastructure is ready. CoreWeave, Crusoe, and Nebius have their deploy steps on their own pages.
Configuration
After initial setup, configure platform features on your cluster:
- Authentication
- Image builder
- Multi-cluster
- Node pools
- Monitoring
- Persistent logs
- Data retention
- Namespace mapping
- Secrets management
Reference
- Helm chart reference for available chart values
